Listen, parents who do not vaccinate…I am not here to tell you that you are wrong. I am not here to lump you into one group and blast you all for your beliefs. I will not think less of you as people, as parents, for your choice, no matter how misguided and dangerous I feel it is. There are thousands upon thousands of comments, blog posts, etc, that do that already. This post is simply about the debate itself, and will also touch on why, after doing diligent research into vaccines and autism, I chose to vaccinate my children, though on a delayed schedule (with the blessing of the pediatrician). When I first started this blog, it was just to document the day-to-day of life and motherhood as I navigated the transition from working mom of two to stay-at-home-mom of two and pregnant with the third. There were a bunch of shifts in the purpose of me posting. I chronicled some pretty good times, and I wrote about the upheavals too. Why yes, I DO have my playlists organized by my mood. Right now, the playlist I have been listening to the most is “Songs for the Depressed”. Contrary to what you may think, there isn’t just sad music on there, and it isn’t a list of the most happy, upbeat songs I could find. Because yeah, I like to listen to songs that will make me feel slightly better about things, but you know what? Sometimes that sadness needs to be fed so that it may be purged in the end. Note: I wrote the majority of this yesterday afternoon. I was in a horrible spot, emotionally speaking. That’s the thing with depression…when you’re in a depressive episode (these can last anywhere from days to months), you have bad days and ‘not so bad’ days. Today (after the first few hours) for me is a ‘not so bad’ day…yesterday was…yesterday was downright horrible, and I wrote this in the middle of that.
I’m writing this first as a document in Word, because I am not sure it will ever see the “Publish” button on my blog. I don’t know if I need to publish it, or if I need to just let my breaking heart vomit it out in a massive vent. Also, in case I do publish this, please be advised that there’s really not a lot of optimism or hope here. I’m holding on to what little amounts of both I have left, I don’t want to purge it with the negativity.

You just can’t.
So I’m participating in NaBloPoMo this year. There are lots of places you can go to get inspiration, in the form of prompts, quotes, questions, etc. You get the idea. One such prompt I came across was “Blog about something that is your greatest hurdle in life”.
