Yes, I am a “Mommy Blogger”…

In exactly that order. I am a mommy first and a blogger second.

I hope you have all been enjoying your summer. I have been spending lots of time with my kids, preparing for the very real possibility that all three will be in school in the fall.

ToddlerBoy might be accepted into our school district’s preschool program. This would be an enormous benefit for him, so please keep your fingers crossed for us on that. KinderGirl is going into first grade, and SchoolGirl is entering fourth grade.

July was a rather…eventful…month, in which I was bitten by a brown recluse, lost a friend, and spent lots of time playing with the kids. August is gearing up to be just as busy.

If you are contacting me about product reviews, please keep in mind that turnaround times might be a little longer than usual unless there is a firm deadline.

I will be back to regular blogging in a fairly short amount of time. Until then, be safe and stay cool.

Yes, I Yell at My Kids…

To be honest, I didn’t really think this was news. Is it? I mean, it isn’t news that I yell at my kids, but is it really news that other parents yell too?

I read an article today written by a woman who decided to stop yelling at her kids. Her reason was that her son said he felt fear whenever she yelled at him. Okay, I can totally get that. But here’s the thing… Continue reading

A Day in the Life of a SAHM…

SAHM, stay at home mom, humor, motherhood, mom, kids, children, stay at home mom

Where the crepe are my bon-bons? Why isn’t my soap opera on?!┬áMaybe because one, I don’t like bon-bons. Two, the TV is turned off.

There is a misconception that being a stay-at-home-mother (SAHM) is easy. We have all the time in the world and our days are just peaches and Pinterest crafts with our kids. We lounge about the house while our kids run around like little wild hooligans, trashing the house, tormenting the animals, and screaming until we go deaf. We just have this serene smile on our faces while we sip our coffees and chat on the phone for hours with our girlfriends. Must be a great life to have, and everyone wants to be a SAHM. I’m Back This Time, I Promise…

First and foremost, I hope, that for those of you reading who were affected by Hurricane Sandy, that this post finds you well, warm, and with a full belly. We were in the path, but yet again we were miraculously spared any damage. Not so much for the shore, as you may well know. Seaside Heights, where Mister and I took our children to the Funtown Pier over the summer, is obliterated. Funtown Pier is badly damaged and Casino Pier’s rollercoaster is sitting in the Atlantic. A rollercoaster. In the freakin’ ocean. Unreal. My heart goes out to all those who lost some, those who lost everything, and the families who lost loved ones. I am truly sorry. Continue reading

Where have You Been? And the Evil M-Word…

We’ve had a lot going on lately at Casa de Wench. Sickness has made the rounds, a couple of times, and I have just been very busy. But hopefully things will calm down now and I’ll be able to post more often.

My son, BabyBoy, is ONE today! ONE!!! It’s hard to reconcile the very active toddler he is, with the very active infant he was. But I have proof in video form. Mister and I were watching old videos last night, and wow…it seems like he’s been walking forever, though I know it’s only been 3 months. Continue reading

The Doctor is In…

I’ve been MIA here for what seems forever…I know it hasn’t been, but in the online world, a week may as well be a year.

We’ve all been sick. All of us. Mister, ToddlerGirl, SchoolGirl, BabyBoy, and myself. I’m surprised the cats didn’t get sick. And we all know how it works when the household gets sick. You are suddenly the nurse whose sole mission it is to get everyone back to health. It’s daunting. I pulled out every remedy, every medication, you name it, I did it to get everyone healthy again. I medicated myself with herbal teas, a couple shots of NyQuil, and plenty of coffee. I saved the good remedies for everyone else, and now I have an ear infection. Continue reading

Teaching Children Time-Management…

(Or: How SchoolGirl and ToddlerGirl always seem to wait to ask for something until I’m right in the middle of something)

It’s summer vacation time here at the Wench house, and that means a monkey wrench has been tossed into my fine-tuned routine. By fine tuned routine, I mean unending chaos. So it’s just more chaos today. Continue reading
