I Was Not Prepared For the Rainbow Pregnancy…

So I haven’t been writing as much as I was hoping to, the holidays were busy, and I have been dealing with all the lovely pregnancy things.

As most of you probably know, this is a rainbow baby for me. I found out I was pregnant exactly five months to the day after I found out I was pregnant…a pregnancy that would end in miscarriage.

I have gone through feelings and emotional episodes that put the feelings and emotional episodes of my other pregnancies to shame, made them look like pure child’s play. I thought I would feel better when I passed the point at which I miscarried in April…and I did, but then I was like “Okay, I need to get to 12 weeks. Surely I’ll feel better then.”

Nope. I wasn’t prepared for this at all. No article, all of which were well written and very helpful, prepared me for this, though they all seemed to be along the line of “It’s normal to be afraid during a rainbow pregnancy.” Continue reading

Love as a Catalyst…

motherhood, children, parenthood,love,unconditional love, life,

A baby and her newb mother. 🙂

(Note: As it seems to be going with blog posts lately, this was written yesterday. Meant to post it yesterday too, but that didn’t happen, haha.)

Today, as with two other days each year, I am given reason to pause and reflect. Given that two of these days fall less than 3 weeks apart, I feel inspired to write. There is a cake baking in the oven (NOT A BUN! A literal cake. There are no buns, or plans to have buns, in the oven at any point in the near future.), ToddlerBoy is napping, I am fresh and clean. In other words, I have some rare downtime, and I’d like to share my thoughts with you. Continue reading

Babies R Us,giveaway, cord blood, cord blood banking, stem cells, science, health, motherhood, pregnancyncy, infant, newborn, delivery, childbirth, umbilical cord,LifeBankUSA

Bear with me, I’ll get to the giveaway details and link in a moment. Everyone by now has heard of cord blood banking, in which stem cells from the umbilical cord is cryogenically preserved after a baby is born. This post is not a political or moral stance on stem cell research. I happen to support stem cell research when those stem cells are gained through ethical means, like cord blood banking.  Continue reading

Oh, Issa…

Sometimes, I take some time to peruse the offerings over at BlogHer, a network for women bloggers, featuring posts by those bloggers. Sometimes I like what I read, sometimes I don’t. Sometimes I comment, most times I don’t. But this article by Issa Waters…no matter how I tried to compact all I needed to say into a comment that people wouldn’t dismiss as TL;DR (Too Long; Didn’t Read), I simply have too much to say. First, go have a read. It’s okay, go on, I’ll wait here. Continue reading

Consumer Review: Bottle Pets (and a Giveaway!!!)

photo

Even as a mother, when it comes down to trying to find a unique baby shower gift, I tend to utterly fail. I usually end up buying a gift card, because I don’t want to buy something that someone else has already bought.

When Nina at Bottle Pets approached me about doing a review, I checked out their website, and did some reading. Bottle Pets are soft plush animals that you insert a bottle into and then give to your child. I’ve seen all types of baby bottle covers, but they were more in the vein of insulator wraps to keep the contents warm/cold. A stuffed animal baby bottle cover is something I quite honestly haven’t seen before, so I jumped at the chance to review them. I was sent Bailey the Cow and Charlie the Dinosaur. When I received them, I looked them over. These Bottle Pets are soft, cute, and very well made.

The Doctor is In…

I’ve been MIA here for what seems forever…I know it hasn’t been, but in the online world, a week may as well be a year.

We’ve all been sick. All of us. Mister, ToddlerGirl, SchoolGirl, BabyBoy, and myself. I’m surprised the cats didn’t get sick. And we all know how it works when the household gets sick. You are suddenly the nurse whose sole mission it is to get everyone back to health. It’s daunting. I pulled out every remedy, every medication, you name it, I did it to get everyone healthy again. I medicated myself with herbal teas, a couple shots of NyQuil, and plenty of coffee. I saved the good remedies for everyone else, and now I have an ear infection. Continue reading
